The Whyalla Adult Community Education (WhyACE) Network is a subcommittee of the Whyalla South Australia Works (SAW) Network. The subcommittee has been established to:
- Bring together all interested parties and providers to ensure minimum duplication and maximised benefit to the clients;
- Encourage and inspire all providers of any ACE program/event in Whyalla to increase participation and inspire engagement;
- Identify any gaps and work together to develop targeted programs;
- Work together to seek additional funding as required;
- Actively promote all ACE programs in Whyalla;
- Stream line the referral process from ACE to SAW and on to, Further Education, paid / unpaid Employment and other opportunities to remain engaged.
The functions of the Network are to:
Maximise opportunities for local providers to deliver community based foundation and base level multi-literacy programs in Whyalla to those in need by;
- Support providers to deliver training in line with the community's needs;
- Supporting clients to access training through the promotion of WACE projects via a quarterly newsletter, Web updates and local media promotion;
- Support the dissemination of information to all key stakeholders/providers/interested parties;
- Identify and coordinate joint training opportunities for WhyACE staff and volunteers;
- Drive Adult Learners Week activities in Whyalla.
Membership
Membership is open to representatives who provide, support, promote and or deliver adult community based education in Whyalla.
New members are welcome to join at any point in the calendar year.
The WhyACE Network will meet a minimum of 4 times each calendar year; special meeting will be called as required and may be requested by any member. If a member is unable to attend a meeting a proxy may be nominated in their place. Others may be invited to join meetings when they have a particular expertise or represent agencies or groups which work with or towards local adult community education services.
The Network will be managed through the Whyalla SAW Network via the Whyalla Office of Regional Development Australia. WACE will provide updates and feedback to SAW via a regular agenda item at the SAW meetings and through regular email, verbal and written communication.
